Ms. Aris, a Leland Fellow and Microenterprise and Gender Specialist for Land O'Lakes’ Zimbabwe Building Livelihoods and Resiliency project, gave a presentation on the importance of integrating women in the commercial dairy value chain, which audiences received enthusiastically. "I've had several people e-mail me with some really positive feedback, and one presenter at the conference asked to cite my presentation in a textbook on agricultural globalization that he is co-authoring," said Giselle.
Land O'Lakes gave three presentations at the conference. Mr. Abbey talked about the cooperative movement and its unique structure, and the need for more financing for dairy sector growth. He is Land O'Lakes’ Cooperative Development Specialist for the USAID Cooperative Development Program and works out of Uganda.
Mr. MacKillop, Practice Manager for Agriculture Competitiveness and Food Systems and Safety, talked to conference attendees about lessons learned and best practices in livestock insurance.
